Job Description

National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) presently has job opening for eligible candidate for the position of a Derrick Crane Operator. The successful candidate will work for the NPCC Offshore Operation barges in Abu Dhabi. This job has been posted by NPCC on 17 September 2023 & is actively inviting applications from candidates fulfilling eligibility requirements.

Job Purpose of A Derrick Crane Operator

Operate and maintain derrick crane safely during construction and lifting operations at NPCC industrial sites / locations.

Job Duties of A Derrick Crane Operator

  • Attend meetings with nominated barge personnel to review the appropriate requirements of the lifting drawings and  related procedures.
  • Conduct and report on periodic inspections of the cranes including manufacturer maintenance recommendations to the Plant department.
  • Report any defects observed as per manufacturer’s instructions to Barge Foreman.
  • Ensure that the crane, cabin and engine room are kept clean and free of clutter.
  • Clearly display and update the load chart in the cabin to ensure it is visible to all during normal operating conditions of the derrick crane.
  • Ensure compliance with company codes, HSE & offshore regulations and the barge’s operations manual.
  • Repeat the radio instructions to the Barge Foreman during the lifts in order to confirm communication understanding.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification

  • High school or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience operating cranes onboard offshore construction barges.
  • Experience in installation of top sides and heavy lift cranes (800 tons & above).
  • Experience in jacket installation utilising lifting, up ending and launching methods.

Certification

  • Valid crane offshore competency certificate from Germanischer Lloyd (GL).

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Complete knowledge of all standard offshore safety training requirements.

Good English language skills.

  • Basic computer knowledge.
