Job Description
A CSSD Technician at NMC Royal Hospital is responsible for all instruments reprocessing works. He/ She will support the CSSD in planning, organizing and implementing standards to ensure sterilization requirements for the whole hospital. The role holder will coordinate with the Operating Room team, nurses, clinical and non-clinical departments for achieving competence in quality. He/ She works toward achieving the mission and vision.
Responsibilities of CSSD Technician
- Perform and meet the sterilization requirements for operating theater, wards, intensive care unit, emergency department, cath lab, dialysis unit, outpatient department etc.
- Also, ensuring that the requirements are dispatched timely with complete documentation.
- Coordinate the sterilization of operation theatre sets received and further ensured timely dispatch of these sets with complete documentation.
- Prepare packs and consumables.
- Maintain adequate inventory of CSSD consumables and sterile sets that are needed for surgery. Stock levels are reviewed at the end of each day and future requirements are forecasted and replenished accordingly.
- Ensure that sterilized sets, instruments and consumables carry a valid expiry date. Items which have been expired are re-autoclaved with supporting documentation.
- Perform quality control tests: biological test, Bowie-Dick test for the autoclave on daily basis and document the results for future reference. Do the necessary action in case of any indicator failure.
- Follow the recall policy when required.
- Coordinate with hospital biomedical department for periodic preventive maintenance for all equipment.
- Coordinate with the infection control surveillance team for periodic culture studies of CSSD.
- Assist and collect data for key performance indicator and participates in the measurement of these indicators.
- Maintain monthly statistic and monthly report.
- Document and report appropriately.
- Assist for orientation of new staff to the work flow and responsibilities in CSSD.
- Update self with the latest advancements in the field and utilizing the knowledge in the improvisation of the unit.
- Assist to prepare and update policy and protocols for CSSD.
What you’ll do as CSSD Technician
- Perform the quality inspection in other disinfection/Sterilization units of our facility as per the instructions of CSSD Supervisor.
- Operate and maintain all the Reprocessing equipment as per the manufacturer instructions.
- Maintenance of reprocessing equipment.
- Perform competency in point of care testing and ensure quality requirements.
- Handle all equipment’s in the unit like: Air gun, Water gun, Washer disinfector.
Who can Apply?
Candidates possessing the following qualifications can apply for the role of CSSD Technician at NMC Royal Hospital:
- 2 years of certified CSSD Technician course.
- Minimum 2 years of experience.
- Valid Ministry of Health (MOH) license.
- BLS Certificate.
- Competent with general CSSD related competencies.
- Competent with unit specific procedures and equipment.
