Job Description

The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) at University of Sharjah is seeking to hire a full time fixed term Postdoctoral Research Associate in the field of Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering with a focus on Analogue and digital electronic circuits and systems. The postdoc will be assigned to work with one or two of the research activates of the research group “Mixed Analogue Digital Smart Electronic Circuits & Systems”. Some of the current active research projects to which the Postdoc may be assigned are:

Low voltage low power Biomedical system design.
Microwave/RF Active Sensors Design.
Embedded System and Digital Circuits Design.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Algorithms.
Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Design.
Field Programmable Analog Arrays (FPAA) Design.
5G/6G Antenna Design.
Power and Low Noise Amplifiers Design.

Responsibilities of Postdoctoral Research Associate

Proposing novel ideas of research in line with the research group themes and in particular the projects to which the Postdoc is assigned.
Developing models and/or conducting experimental research tasks.
Gathering and Processing data related to the project in which the postdoc is assigned.
Assisting the researchers in tasks like programming, CAD simulation and data processing.
Maintaining research databases to keep track of data archiving and analysis.
Conducting literature reviews for the related topics.
Writing up and helping in editing research papers for journals and conferences.
Writing up and helping in writing new research proposals.
Attending weekly research meetings involving, but not limited to, grant preparation, manuscript preparation, quality control issues, and protocol development or revision.
Enhancing professional growth and development through case conferences, educational programs, in service meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars.
Must have strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Job Requirements of Postdoctoral Research Associate

Doctoral Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
2 year working knowledge and prior experience with processing and analysis of data.
Experience in writing and publishing scientific papers and in writing research proposals.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

A good understanding and command of one of the areas mentioned above.
Proficiency with software related to one of the areas mentioned above such as MATLAB, HFSS, CST, Python, VHDL, CADENCE, ADS, Verilog, Silvaco, etc.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and training skills.
Ability to establish, maintain and communicate operational procedures.
Supervisory skills and ability to monitor the performance of others (i.e. student interns) and provide feedback.
Ability to install and maintain hardware and software used for the area of specialization.
The ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and research subjects.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
