Job Description

The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) at Univeristy of Sharjah is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the area of Autonomous robots to work on control systems and path planning for the autonomous robotics and active vision Lab. The focus of the position is research and development in the areas of Robotics, Mechatronics, and Computer Vision. The applicant will work in a dynamic research environment with the opportunity to collaborate across multiple projects and research faculty within this research theme. The candidate selected for this position will be expected to conduct scientific research in the following areas:

Ad

  • Modern and intelligent control for robotic systems.
  • Path planning for robotic systems.
  • Coordination between different types of robots, such as: UGVs and UAVs.
  • Active computer vision integration.

Responsibilities of Postdoctoral Research Associate

  • Follow all University policies regulations for safe working procedures.
  • Conduct research in the area of control and path planning for Robotic systems such as, UGVs, UAVs and manipulators.
  • Collect field data and conduct experiments.
  • Analyze data and work with relevant state of the art specialized software packages.
  • Write research proposals and reports, and present research findings.
  • Collaborate across multiple projects and research faculty within various research themes.
  • Supervise or coordinate the work of graduate research assistants, students, technicians, and others in executing research projects and activities.​​

Job Requirements of Postdoctoral Research Associate

  • Doctoral Degree in electrical and computer engineering or related fields with emphasis on Robotics.
  • 2 year knowledge and experience in multiple areas of relevant research and programming language such as Matlab/Simulink, Labview and C/C++.
  • Prior scholarly publications and research experience.
  • Proven record in publishing journal and conference research outcomes.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Excellent programming skills in Matlab/Simulink, Labview, C/C++..
  • Excellent writing skills for academic conferences and journals.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in English language​
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Must have strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co workers or supervisors with other duties as required​.
