Job Description
As an Assistant Buyer at Sharaf Retail, job holder will be responsible for supporting the buying team in all aspects of the purchasing process, from product selection to inventory management. Candidate will assist in analyzing consumer trends, negotiating with suppliers and ensuring that the company’s merchandise meets the needs and preferences of its target market. Candidate requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a passion for fashion and retail.
Responsibilities of Assistant Buyer
- Collaborate with the buying team to identify and select merchandise that aligns with the company’s brand identity and target market.
- Research market trends, competitor offerings and customer preferences to inform product assortment decisions.
- Support senior buyers in negotiating favorable terms with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules and payment terms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery of merchandise and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Monitor inventory levels and sales performance to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory.
- Assist in forecasting demand and planning inventory replenishment strategies to meet sales targets.
- Coordinate with suppliers to place purchase orders and track order status to ensure timely delivery.
- Liaise with the logistics and warehouse teams to coordinate receipt and distribution of merchandise.
- Compile and analyze sales data, market trends and customer feedback to evaluate product performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Generate reports and presentations to communicate key findings and recommendations to the buying team and senior management.
- Support in-store merchandising efforts, including product displays, promotions and visual merchandising initiatives.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop marketing campaigns and promotional strategies to drive sales.
Requirements for Role of Assistant Buyer
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years experience in a retail or fashion environment, preferably in a buying or merchandising role.
Skills And Knowledge Desired
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Detail-oriented with a keen eye for product selection and merchandising.
