Wet Utility Design Engineer – Abu Dhabi Full-time

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Wet Utility Design Engineer to join our team! In this role you will work within a multidisciplinary consultancy team to deliver the planning and detailed design of wet utility networks for infrastructure and land development projects in Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE. The role focuses on design and authority approvals rather than site execution, covering potable water, fire-fighting, irrigation, foul sewer, and stormwater systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design wet utility systems, including potable water networks, irrigation, fire-fighting networks, sewerage and stormwater systems, manholes, chambers, appurtenances, pumping stations, wet wells, and storage/tank facilities.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics using CAD software.
• Develop hydraulic models to analyze and optimize system performance.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to determine project requirements.
• Perform calculations for pipe sizing, flow rates, pressure losses, and system capacities.
• Prepare technical reports, design specifications, and bill of quantities (BOQ).
• Ensure all designs comply with local regulations, codes, and standards.
• Work closely with architects, urban planners, and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs.
• Follow company QA/QC procedures, design checklists, and document control protocols.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in an engineering consultancy environment, with a focus on wet utilities/infrastructure design.
• Proven experience with UAE/GCC projects; direct Abu Dhabi authority experience is highly preferred.
• Membership or progress toward membership in a professional institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, ASCE) is an advantage.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWorks, EPANET), CAD/BIM (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infrawizard), and MS Office tools.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring

• Master’s degree in Water Resources, Hydraulics, or Environmental Engineering is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Abu Dhabi Utility Infrastructure Design Manuals and authority submission procedures.
• Knowledge of international standards such as AWWA, BS/EN, ISO for water and wastewater systems.
• Design of both gravity and pressurized systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
