Tug Skipper Full-time

NMDC Group is seeking an experienced Tug Skipper (Tug Master) to safely command and operate harbour and offshore tugs supporting dredging, marine construction, and towage operations across the UAE. The Tug Skipper is responsible for the safe navigation, manoeuvring, and handling of the tug, the safety of the crew, and the efficient execution of towing, berthing, anchor-handling, and support tasks.

Responsibilities

• Command and navigate the tug safely during towing, berthing, mooring, and anchor-handling operations.
• Manoeuvre the vessel to assist barges, dredgers, and other craft during marine construction and dredging activities.
• Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, COLREG, and company HSE policies.
• Plan and supervise towing operations, passage plans, and safe routes in coordination with the operations team.
• Maintain the tug in a seaworthy condition and oversee routine checks of engines, deck equipment, and towing gear.
• Lead, supervise, and train the tug crew, ensuring clear communication and adherence to safe working practices.
• Maintain accurate logbooks, voyage records, and reports as required by the company and authorities.
• Respond effectively to emergencies, including firefighting, man-overboard, and pollution prevention.
• Coordinate with port authorities, pilots, and project teams to ensure smooth and timely operations.

Qualifications

• Valid Certificate of Competency as Master (Tug) or equivalent, recognised for UAE waters.
• Proven experience as a Tug Master/Skipper, preferably in dredging, marine construction, or offshore support operations.
• Sound knowledge of towing, anchor-handling, and berthing operations.
• Strong understanding of maritime safety regulations and emergency procedures.
• Good leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
