Thermal Insulation Specialist at EDGE Group in Abu Dhabi will be responsible for ensuring the proper thermal insulation of missile systems and related equipment. Your expertise will play a critical role in enhancing the performance, safety, and reliability of our defense products. This is a senior level full time role. The salary for this role ranges from 12000 AED to 25000 AED, which may be slightly negotiatable during the interview

Responsibilities of Thermal Insulation Specialist

Training Materials Preparation

  • Develop detailed training materials, including presentations, manuals, and practical exercises for the team.
  • Create educational material that covers the core principles of insulation materials, the proper handling of raw materials, and essential safety guidelines.

Team Training

  • Conduct interactive training sessions for the team members, development an understanding of insulation materials.
  • Facilitate Q&A and feedback sessions.

Documentation Data Pack Creation

  • Collaborate with the team to compile comprehensive data packs for the developed insulation material formulation.
  • Provide guidance and instructions for accurate and detailed documentation.

Material Analysis:

  • Deliver in-depth insights into the effects of various raw materials or final insulation thickness on ablation rates and overall rocket motor performance.
  • Offer guidance on how to analyze and interpret data related to insulation material properties.

Manufacturing Procedure and Equipment

  • Train team members on the manufacturing methods required for insulation material production.
  • Provide expertise on the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing insulation materials.

Pilot Plant Planning:

  • Collaborate with the team to create capability of producing insulation material in a pilot plant in the UAE, considering location, infrastructure, and equipment requirements.
  • Assist in the development of an overall project plan.
  • Support the commissioning of the existing pilot plant equipment.
  • Evaluate suitability of the current pilot plant equipment and propose possible alternatives if needed.

Development of local insulation material

  • Utilize the Pilot Plant to development and qualification of a locally produced insulation materials

Quality Control Procedures

  • Develop and document detailed quality control procedures for raw materials and final product of insulation materials.
  • Provide training in test methods of insulation materials
  • Improve and establish new tests methods If required.

Storage Facility Preparation

  • Advise on the design, layout, and conditions required for storage facilities dedicated to finished samples and raw materials.
  • Ensure that the storage areas are compliant with defense standards and regulation requirements.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Guide the team in understanding and complying with local and international regulations governing insulation material manufacturing.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary permits, approvals, and certifications to operate the pilot plant.

Establishing a Production Partnership 

  • Collaborate with management team to identify and evaluate potential production partners within or outside the country to supply the production quantities.
  • Assess partners’ capabilities, infrastructure, and expertise in insulation material production.
  • Conduct regular trips to the selected partner facilities.

Design Input and Production Plan

  • Provide the Design Input data pack of the developed insulation material formulations and specifications to the selected partner.
  • Review the necessary legal documents with the selected partner.
  • Engage in collaborative discussions to fine-tune formulations as required for production.
  • Establish clear communication channels for production scheduling and coordination.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that the partner implements quality control measures at their facilities to maintain consistent product quality.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to support quality standards.

Supply Chain Management

  • Collaborate on supply chain logistics to ensure timely delivery of insulation materials to meet the system production and project requirements.

Eligibility Requirements

The eligibility requirements for role of a Thermal Insulation Specialist are as under:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience ( min 7 years)  in thermal insulation, preferably in the defense or aerospace industry.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • In-depth knowledge of insulation materials, techniques, and their applications in missile systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software for insulation planning.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
