Key Responsibilities

• Teach History across Key Stages 4 and 5 (GCSE and A Level), following the National Curriculum for England. Therefore, ensure students master key historical periods, interpretations, source analysis, and essay‑writing skills.
• Plan and deliver engaging, enquiry‑led lessons that challenge every learner, using diverse perspectives to foster critical thinking and debate.
• Assess and monitor student progress using both formative and summative methods. Use data to identify gaps, then implement targeted interventions to raise attainment.
• Contribute to the school’s thriving enriched curriculum programme, including extra‑curricular activities such as debating, Model United Nations, historical trips, and academic societies.
• Set high expectations for all students, fostering a mindset that every individual can achieve top performance, and provide the support needed to reach those goals.
• Collaborate with the Humanities department to develop resources, share best practice, and participate in professional development that keeps teaching at the forefront of innovation.

Requirements And Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in History or a related subject, plus PGCE/PGDE or equivalent teaching qualification (B.Ed also accepted).
• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience following the National Curriculum for England, specifically at KS4 and KS5 (GCSE and A Level History).
• Exceptional subject knowledge with a proven track record of outstanding learning and teaching, evidenced by strong student outcomes.
• A firm belief that all students have the potential for top performance, combined with the drive and passion to enable them to succeed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues in a multicultural setting.
• Experience contributing to an enriched curriculum programme (e.g., debate clubs, Model UN, history trips, or academic competitions).
