Key Responsibilities

• Gather and analyse comprehensive patient assessment data covering physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual dimensions. Use evidence-based techniques to establish nursing diagnoses and flag potential risks to patient safety early.
• Build individualised, culturally sensitive care plans together with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. Update plans continuously as patient condition and response evolve across the shift.
• Carry out care plan interventions using evidence-based treatments and procedures. Administer medications accurately per SSMC protocols. Document every component of care and all plan modifications in the patient health record without delay.
• Design and deliver patient and family education suited to each person’s learning needs and clinical condition. Apply teach-back techniques to confirm understanding. Record all education provided in the health record completely.
• Give thorough clinical handover at every transition. Attend patient rounds, report condition changes to the attending team promptly, and keep all colleagues updated on care plan revisions and unit activity throughout the shift.
• Draw on current research and evidence to guide your daily practice. Take part in evidence-based practice projects and share relevant findings with teammates to raise the standard of care across the unit.
• Supervise practical nurses, junior staff, and student nurses throughout each shift. Coordinate delegated tasks, think critically under pressure, and serve as a reliable clinical resource for the team around you.
• Champion patient rights and act as an advocate at every stage of care. Challenge unsafe practices, report observed misconduct per policy, and maintain a professional and therapeutic relationship with every patient.
• Take part in shared governance and organisational decision-making. Seek out both informal and formal leadership opportunities that strengthen nursing practice and advance your own professional development.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or a two-year Nursing degree with Registered Nurse registration from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia — plus a valid current national licence.
• Minimum two years of post-qualification clinical experience in a relevant setting. UAE nursing college graduates qualify after successful internship completion.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current at appointment.
• ACLS and PALS certifications relevant to your clinical specialty are strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to apply evidence-based nursing practice and engage actively in quality improvement in a clinical environment.
• Strong supervisory instincts with the ability to direct junior staff, coordinate delegated care, and model professional nursing conduct throughout every shift.
• Clear and confident communication across documentation, clinical handover, patient education, and multidisciplinary team interaction.
• Active commitment to continuous professional learning and the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
