Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for paediatric patients, using age‑appropriate communication and techniques.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and prescribed treatments accurately, calculating dosages based on weight and monitoring for side effects.
- Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, intake/output, and neurological status, recognising early signs of deterioration and escalating promptly.
- Provide post‑operative care for paediatric surgical patients, including pain management, wound care, and family education.
- Support children with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, epilepsy) through education, monitoring, and coordination of care plans.
- Collaborate with paediatricians, therapists, and social workers to develop and update individualised care plans.
- Educate parents and guardians on medication administration, home care, warning signs, and follow‑up appointments.
- Maintain accurate, real‑time documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), adhering to DOH and JCI standards.
- Respond to paediatric emergencies (respiratory distress, seizures, anaphylaxis) following PALS protocols and hospital code procedures.
- Participate in unit‑based quality improvement initiatives, infection control audits, and staff training sessions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) from a recognised institution.
- Valid nursing license from the UAE regulatory authority (DOH, DHA, or MOHAP) – or eligibility to obtain one.
- Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in paediatric nursing (inpatient, outpatient, or PICU).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (American Heart Association or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of paediatric growth and development, family‑centred care, and child safeguarding protocols.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage for patient and family interactions.
- Ability to work rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends) in a 24/7 hospital environment.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and remain calm under pressure.
