This mission improves the quality of decisions across product and business via relevant, reliable, and actionable data, therefore owning the entire value chain from logging and data modeling to experimentation and production ML systems. You will leverage Generative AI for data enrichment, smart content understanding, and automated decision‑making to enhance user experiences and business operations. Consequently, your deep expertise in ML frameworks (Scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face) and experiment design will directly impact millions of customers, restaurant partners, and riders across eight countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage ambiguous business problems as opportunities to drive objective criteria using data, therefore solving complex challenges with the simplest, most appropriate algorithms.
- Design and implement effective and impactful machine learning and generative AI systems in production, including LLM fine‑tuning and NLP‑based solutions.
- Develop deep understanding of product experiences, business processes, source data, and generating systems through documentation, engineering collaboration, and systematic data profiling.
- Contribute heavily to the design and maintenance of data models that measure performance and comprehend performance drivers for your area of focus.
- Work closely with product and business teams to identify important questions answerable with data, then deliver well‑formed, reliable, actionable insights and recommendations.
- Design, plan, and analyze experiments (A/B and multivariate tests). Support product and business managers with KPI design and goal setting.
- Mentor other data scientists in their growth journeys, therefore contributing to improving ways of working, tooling, and internal training programs.
- Maintain strong command over the entire data lifecycle, including problem formulation, data auditing, rigorous analysis, interpretation, recommendations, and presentation.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience working in data science, machine learning, and generative AI.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or similar fields (postgraduate degree is a plus).
- Deep knowledge and experience with ML and GenAI frameworks: Scikit‑learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost, SVMs, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, and LLM fine‑tuning.
- Excellent SQL. Competence with reproducible data analysis using Python or R.
- Familiarity with data modeling, dimensional design, and different analysis types (descriptive, exploratory, inferential, causal, predictive).
- Deep understanding of experiment design, analysis workflows, and corresponding statistical techniques.
- Familiarity with product data (impressions, events) and product health measurement (conversion, engagement, retention).
- Experience with BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform, plus data pipeline development (Airflow), is a plus. Experience in an online consumer product setting is also a plus.
- Strong problem solver with a ‘figure it out’ growth mindset, excellent collaboration and communication, strong ownership, and a ‘keep it simple’ approach.
