Job Purpose of A Specialist Pulmonology

• Diagnose and treats disease and conditions associated with the lungs, Examines patients, utilizing medical instruments and equipments. Elicits and records information about patient history.
• Analyses reports and test results and prescribes treatment or medication for conditions. Refers patients to ancillary and consultant services when indicated. This includes admission and work up of all medical patients to medical wards and ICU as required.

Your Job Duties As A Specialist Pulmonology

• Performs the professional duties of a Pulmonologist in adherence to the delineation of privileges depending on the efficiency and skills of the particular individual.
• Answer in – patient’s consultations from medical or other in patient services.
• Orders diagnostic laboratory and X – ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable therapy and taking the necessary preventive medicine.
• Reviews journals and text books in order to keep current on latest techniques procedures and therapies.
• Participate in continuing in- service training programs, Physician’ conference, etc.
• Responsible for the proper practice of infection control guidelines in all clinical areas.
• Keeps current with emergency techniques as they emerge & evolve.
• Active participation and sustained qualification in all cardio – pulmonary resuscitation programs.
• Attends staff meeting and weekly rounds. Participates in in-service activities as required, i.e. morbidity & mortality conference, peer reviews, etc.
• Performs additional duties as designated by the superiors.
• To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification

• Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship.
• Post graduate degree in Pulmonology from a recognized medical college.

Experience

• At least 5 years of practice as a Pulmonologist after certification.

License

• Current licensure in country of origin and with DHA license to practice as a specialist in Pulmonologist in Dubai, UAE.

Knowledge and Skills Desired

• Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership.
• He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his / her work.
• Personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients, and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
• Excellent command of oral & written English.
• Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
