About the Role

The Specialist ICU will provide expert-level critical care medicine to patients in the Intensive Care Unit at Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital. Furthermore, this senior physician role involves leading the clinical management of critically ill patients, overseeing treatment protocols, and mentoring junior medical staff. Moreover, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, respiratory therapy, and allied health professionals to deliver the highest standard of intensive care. The position is based at the Zayed Sports City campus in Abu Dhabi.

Key Responsibilities for Specialist ICU at Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital Abu Dhabi

• Lead the clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of critically ill patients in the ICU
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment protocols and care pathways for intensive care patients
• Manage complex medical emergencies including sepsis, respiratory failure, and multi-organ dysfunction
• Coordinate with consulting specialists and surgical teams on multidisciplinary patient care plans
• Support the training and supervision of resident physicians, nurses, and other ICU staff
• Conduct daily ICU rounds and ensure timely clinical decision-making
• Maintain accurate medical records and contribute to clinical documentation standards
• Contribute to quality improvement, research initiatives, and mortality review processes
• Promote patient safety culture and adherence to infection prevention protocols
• Participate in on-call duties as required by the department schedule

Requirements

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) with specialization in Intensive Care Medicine or Critical Care
• Valid medical license recognized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH)
• Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience in intensive care medicine
• Board certification or fellowship in Critical Care Medicine preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent command of English; Arabic is an advantage
• Experience in a JCI-accredited or equivalent healthcare facility preferred
