Specialist, Calibration Full-time

AL TAIF, an EDGE Group entity headquartered in Abu Dhabi, delivers integrated through-life support, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for land, sea, and air platforms operated by the UAE Armed Forces. Calibration of mission-critical measurement and test equipment is central to AL TAIF’s ability to guarantee operational readiness, safety, and compliance across every programme.

As a Specialist, Calibration, you will execute calibration activities on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and dimensional instruments, maintain accurate calibration records, and support the calibration laboratory in achieving full compliance with international standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform calibration of mechanical, electrical, electronic, dimensional, pressure, temperature, and torque measurement and test equipment in accordance with documented procedures and manufacturer specifications.
• Issue accurate, traceable calibration certificates, labels, and reports, and maintain the calibration database, records, and equipment register.
• Identify and report out-of-tolerance conditions, support root-cause investigations, and implement approved corrective and preventive actions.
• Operate, maintain, and verify standards and reference instruments in the calibration laboratory, ensuring traceability to national/international standards.
• Support compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001 by maintaining quality records, participating in audits, and contributing to procedure reviews.
• Coordinate the receipt, identification, and dispatch of equipment for in-house and outsourced calibration, monitoring lead times and quality of external providers.
• Provide technical advice to internal customers on the correct use, handling, storage, and recalibration intervals of measurement and test equipment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the calibration laboratory, including method development, automation, and laboratory housekeeping.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation, or related Engineering/Technology discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on calibration or metrology experience, preferably within aerospace, defence, oil & gas, or industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and measurement uncertainty principles.
• Practical experience using calibration standards and reference instruments for dimensional, mechanical, pressure, temperature, and electrical measurements.
• Strong attention to detail, good documentation practices, and ability to work in a controlled, regulated environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
