Senior Legal Advisor Abu Dhabi Ports

The Senior Legal Advisor at Abu Dhabi Ports will will provide legal advice to internal clients, managing external legal services, and assisting in the negotiation of contractual terms with third parties. The candidate will support M&A activity and financial transactions, and aid in global expansion and subsidiary management activities for all domestic and international subsidiaries.

Duties of Senior Legal Advisor

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements (including port concessions, JVAs, SHAs, MOUs, HOTs, leases, and various financing documents).
• Meeting and negotiating with high level international stakeholders and lenders /financial institutions.
•  Risk assessments of bids and advising on major risks and liabilities.
• Building and strengthening the internal sanctions and compliance processes and advising on regulatory & contract management procedures aligning with local requirements.
• Assisting in the instruction of external counsel and review of local law advice.
• Managing legal entities setups, corporate governance and statutory compliance.
•  Day to day legal administrative support to aid with efficient billing processes, conflict searches, filings, internal procedural requirements etc.
• Assist in development of a legal training program for AD Ports.
• KPIs will be further develorped to reflect the skill set of the selected person.
• Works collaboratively with the teams (IO and Finance) to achieve overall objective for the International Office.
• Provides high quality, accurate and practical legal and regulatory / compliance advice and is able to communicate this advice effectively to all stakeholders.
• Delivers services within the agreed high quality service level (based on customer satisfaction survey).
• Displays accuracy and good time management skills in all work.
• Maintains up to date legal and commercial knowledge by attending adequate training.
• Mitigating legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures.
• Accurately manages legal spend for each project.
• Shows sound business judgment and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Eligibility Requirements

The requirements for role of Senior Legal Advisor are as under:

• Degree from a reputable law school. 
• 5 years legal experience of project finance/corporate/infrastructure sectors with a law firm and/or within a similar global company at a mid- to senior level.
• Strong academic record and solid professional experience.
• Common law qualified (UK/Canadian/US/Australia).

Skills Desired

• Proficient in Word, Excel and PPT.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English is a must.
• Business level spoken and written fluency in Arabic, French, Spanish or Portuguese will be desirable.
• Skilled in legal research, contract drafting, contract negotiation, and due diligence.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a range of legal matters.
• Analytical ability and attention to detail is key.
• Ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
