Senior Charge Nurse – Mental Health Services Full-time

This role leads both inpatient mental health wards and outpatient psychiatric clinics, ensuring consistent care protocols across settings while directly managing crises such as acute psychosis, suicidal ideation, or aggressive behaviour. You will supervise a multidisciplinary team of psychiatric nurses, therapists, social workers, and support staff, handling workforce planning, on-call rotations, and staffing challenges unique to mental health care. Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for inpatient mental health units and outpatient psychiatric clinics, aligning care protocols and quality standards across both settings.
• Supervise a multidisciplinary team including psychiatric nurses, therapists, social workers, and support staff to ensure continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient teams.
• Manage staffing levels, skill mix, on-call rotations, and workforce planning to meet patient needs in a mental health environment.
• Lead crisis management for psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, suicidal ideation, aggressive behaviour, and rapid tranquillisation situations.
• Coordinate patient care activities ensuring appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios and timely, accurate documentation of all nursing interventions.
• Address patient and family concerns promptly, facilitating therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques.
• Deputize for the Nurse Manager in their absence and mentor junior charge nurses through succession planning initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards specific to mental health services.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) or Diploma of Nursing (minimum 4 years study duration) from an accredited school.
• Valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) license or eligibility to transfer.
• Minimum 5 years continuous nursing experience in UAE or home country, with 3-5 years specifically in psychiatric or mental health nursing across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a senior nursing position (charge nurse or equivalent).
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHN) from ANCC or equivalent highly preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in mental health risk assessment, management of acutely ill psychiatric patients, and crisis de-escalation.
