Job Description
King’s College Hospital London UAE is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Nurse to join their team in Dubai. This role supports student success by providing basic health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school setting. He/ she addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students.
Key Accountabilities of School Nurse
- Provide nursing care and implement first aid measures for students and staff as needed.
- Administer daily medications and nursing care procedures as prescribed by the student’s physician.
- Ensure to follow protocols and other instructions for School Clinics as provided by the coordinator of Dubai Health Authority.
- Plan and provide vaccinations for students.
- Initiate emergency procedures for students and staff as needed.
- Assume responsibility for appropriate assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of care given to students.
- Building and fostering a positive relationship with students, parents, teachers and the local community.
- Implement and record required screening programmes, notifying parents when further evaluation is needed.
- Manage student referrals, ensuring that parents are updated with all relevant information.
- Establish and update student health and immunisation records.
- Prepare and maintain student clinic records and prepare required reports.
- Submit reports as applicable to DHA and the School Senior Management Team.
- Follow procedures for suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.
- Plan and implement health education according to the needs of the students and parents.
- Develop and implement “Kid’s Club” activities within the school.
- To actively support the implementation of nursing/local strategy and uphold the ethos of the Clinic.
- Delivers a high standard of evidence-based care to patients and adheres to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) guidelines.
- To maintain student confidentiality at all times.
Education & Qualification
Following is the eligibility criteria for the role of School Nurse at King’s College Hospital London UAE:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Degree in Nursing (minimum two years).
- Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
- UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
- Has worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 2 years.
- Has worked in a British Curriculum school.
Training & Knowledge
- Resuscitation Certificate as per the specialty.
- Demonstrable ongoing and active CPD.
- Provides excellent patient care.
- Good Computer knowledge.
- Communication skills able to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels and from different professions.
- Problem solving skills able to respond to unexpected issues and provide first line response and to identify appropriate sources of secondary support.
- Ability to maintain professional and personal credibility across all staff groups.
- Multi-tasks well in a fast-paced workplace.
