You will be the frontline guardian of road safety, setting up and managing traffic diversions, maintaining safety barriers, and guiding motorists through construction zones across the UAE. Every cone you place, every sign you erect, and every inspection you complete will protect road workers and drivers alike. Your vigilance will directly prevent accidents and keep the nation’s roads safe and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic management equipment, including traffic cones, barriers, signs, and warning lights, in compliance with approved traffic diversion plans (TDPs) and authority regulations (e.g., RTA, Dubai Police, Abu Dhabi Municipality).
- Conduct daily inspections of traffic management setups to ensure all safety measures are correctly installed, visible, and secure; report and rectify any deficiencies immediately.
- Monitor traffic flow within work zones, adjust signage or lane closures as needed, and respond to real-time changes in road conditions or emergencies.
- Assist in the installation and repair of road safety assets, such as crash barriers, guardrails, reflective road markers, and speed bumps.
- Carry out routine maintenance of road infrastructure, including pothole patching, line marking, and cleaning of drainage systems, using hand and power tools.
- Support emergency response teams during road traffic incidents, hazardous spills, or adverse weather events by setting up rapid closures and diversion routes.
- Operate company vehicles (e.g., pick-up trucks, light utility vehicles) to transport equipment and crew to and from worksites.
- Maintain accurate daily logs of work activities, equipment usage, and any incidents or near-misses, reporting issues to the supervisor.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe driving practices.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, engineers, and local authorities to ensure seamless integration of traffic management with ongoing construction or maintenance work.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; a vocational certificate in traffic management or roadworks is an advantage.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in road safety, traffic management, or highway maintenance within the UAE or GCC.
- Valid UAE driving license (manual transmission preferred) and a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of UAE traffic laws, road signage standards, and temporary traffic management procedures (e.g., MUTCD or local RTA guidelines).
- Certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) is highly desirable; training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Physically fit to stand, walk, lift equipment (up to 25 kg), and work outdoors in various weather conditions, including night shifts.
- Ability to read and interpret basic traffic diversion plans and work instructions.
- Good communication skills in English (spoken and written); knowledge of Arabic is a plus for interacting with the public and authorities.
- Team player with a strong safety mindset and the ability to work under pressure during peak traffic hours or emergency call-outs.
