Resident Engineer – Roads & Infrastructure Full-time

Parsons is seeking a talented Resident Engineer to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The Resident Engineer will administer the operational functions of the day-to-day activities on the project, with specific duties related to the work on the road and infrastructure works. He will supervise the work of the construction supervision engineers and the work inspectors working on the construction supervision of the road and infrastructure works.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Act as, and fulfil the duties of, the Engineer with regards to assigned duties and delegated authority and be directly responsible to the Employer during the construction of the Works.
• Communicate directly with the Contractor.
• Observe and inspect the Contractor’s construction activities.
• Issue orders/direction to the Contractor to correct any activities, work, materials and/or equipment which are not in compliance with the Contract.
• Direct, assist and monitor the performance of the construction supervision team.
• Provide assistance, information and advice to the Employer regarding variations, adjustments and Contractor payments.
• Provide recommendations to the Employer for claims and variation orders.
• Keep pertinent and proper site records.
• Review all fabrication/shop/working/as-built drawings, design proposals, method statements, and material submissions.
• Maintain the Resident Engineers’ daily diary.
• Supervise, review, monitor and report on progress of the roadworks and associated works.
• Ensure safety goals are achieved and oversee implementation of safety procedures.
• Convene and chair regular site meetings.
• Participate in contract administration.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and minimum fifteen (15) years post graduate experience in design, site supervision, and construction management of major roads & infrastructure projects of complex nature.
• Demonstrable experience in all aspects of civil supervision on major road and general infrastructure projects preferably in the Gulf region.
• Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
• Emphasis on Quality Assurance Specifications and Statistical Quality Control.
• Must have a sound knowledge about contractual relationships.
• Must be fully computer literate.
• Must be fluent in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
• Must be available in the UAE.
