Job Description
A Podiatrist at NMC Specialty Hospital will assess, diagnose and treat abnormalities and diseases related to the foot and lower limb in people of all ages. He/ she will provide treatment for high-risk patient groups such as the old age and those with increased risk of amputation. He/ she will give advice and make referrals as appropriate.
Responsibilities of Podiatrist
- Responsible for carrying out following responsibilities: Prescription medications, Orthotics, Cryotherapy, Electro surgery, Ultrasonic, Specialized dressings, Exercise therapies.
- Use therapeutic and surgical techniques to treat foot and lower leg issues (e.g. carrying out nail and soft tissue surgery using local anesthetic).
- Prescribe, produce and fit orthotics and other aids and appliances.
- Deliver foot health education.
- Understand the mechanics of the body in order to preserve, restore and develop movement.
- Work with people in sports to address sports-related injuries to legs and feet.
- Use a range of equipment including surgical instruments, dressings, treatment tables, orthotic (inner sole) materials, lasers, grinders, shaping equipment, x-ray and video gait-analysis equipment (which allows for analysis of patients’ walking or running problems).
- Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements.
- Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
- Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
- Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Following is the eligibility criteria for the role of Podiatrist at NMC Royal Hospital:
- Podiatrists must earn a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree and complete a 3-year residency program.
- Valid DOH License to practice in UAE.
- Min 2 years of experience.
