Job Description

NMC Healthcare presently has a job opening for suitably qualified and experienced candidate for position of a Phlebotomist at NMC Specialty Hospital, Dubai, AE. This is an Intermediate level full time role. For this position salary ranges from 4000-8000 AED, which may be slightly negotiable during the interview process.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for phlebotomy (adult and pediatric) including collection of various laboratory samples as and when required.
  • Responsible for performing Biochemistry, Hematology, Clinical Pathology, basic Microbiology, Serology, and specially requested tests on patient specimens as per laid down and approved laboratory standard operating procedures. Responsible for results validation and reconfirmation if required, including abnormal and critical results.
  • Duly notifies the patient care unit or physician of any critical test results. Interacts professionally with all department members, physicians’ staff, administration and the Director of Clinical Laboratory and Pathology for the daily day to day laboratory practices.
  • Records and maintains the laboratory and patient-related data entry, assisting in preparing lab statistics, daily/monthly quality controls, and calibrations after due verification.
  • To perform and follow quality assurance programs for various laboratory sub-departments including internal and external quality assurance.
  • Uses and maintains all laboratory equipment correctly including daily checks and routine maintenance and records for the various instruments in the laboratory.
  • Perform basic blood bank procedures including daily quality assurance and maintaining appropriate blood bank records.
  • To observe and follow laboratory safety protocols and precautions including infection control practices by using appropriate PPE’S and approved procedures and help in the prevention or containment of the effects of adverse incidents.
  • Shall maintain the confidentiality of the patient information and follow the ethics and professional behaviour while on assigned duties.
  • To attend and follow continuous medical education and training programs.
  • To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations, EIAC/ISO15189:2012 requirements & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.

Requirements for Role of Phlebotomist

  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • At least two (2) years of Medical Laboratory experience.
  • Currently licensed in country of origin and with DHA license to practice in Dubai.
