Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy, the Pharmacist I role is responsible for performing the daily pharmaceutical operational activities including but not limited to preparing, compounding and dispensing medication to patients in adherence to prescriptions issued by physicians and in line with Mubadala Health and DOH/DHA policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities of Pharmacist

  • Performs the daily pharmaceutical operations including but not limited to activities related to preparation, verification, compounding, packaging, labelling, appropriate dispensing and delivery of medications in compliance with the relevant rules and regulations.
  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting the physicians’ medication orders and prescriptions and detects any therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Prepares and labels pharmaceuticals and verifies medication order entries, charges and inspections in line with the pharmacy operational requirements.
  • Assists in implementing clinical programs, initiatives and services to ensure patient safety and quality healthcare delivery.
  • Participates in educational and research activities.
  • Protects patients and Pharmacy caregivers by adhering to infection-control protocols.
  • Provides support to the Pharmacy team in all logistics related activities.
  • Develops and maintains proper documentation on patient medication profiles in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assists in the maintenance of records for controlled substances and the removal of outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory.

Qualifications

Following are the prerequisites for the role of Pharmacist I (Emirati Talent) at Imperial College London Diabetes Center:

Education

  • B.Sc in Pharmacy.
  • Completion of specialty qualification as per the recognized specialty certificate (DHA/DOH Guidelines).

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience post qualification in the pharmaceutical field.

Job Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of key pharmaceutical procedures and current best practices.
  • Good understanding of pharmacy related regulations.
  • Ability to communicate and relay messages to patients in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Practical knowledge in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
