Paediatric Rehabilitation Consultant – Abu Dhabi Full-time

This role restores function and quality of life for children with neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic injuries, and congenital conditions within a state-of-the-art specialty hospital co-managed with a major US medical institution. You will design rehabilitation protocols that integrate physical, occupational, and speech therapies, then coordinate care across paediatric subspecialties to maximize developmental outcomes. The position operates within a US-collaborative model, where your clinical decisions directly shape long-term independence for paediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and manage children with acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, and neuromuscular disorders requiring intensive rehabilitation.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that include goal-oriented physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and assistive technology.
• Lead multidisciplinary team conferences involving physiatrists, therapists, psychologists, and social workers to align rehabilitation goals.
• Prescribe and monitor orthotic devices, mobility aids, and adaptive equipment tailored to each child’s developmental stage.
• Manage spasticity through botulinum toxin injections, baclofen pumps, and other medical interventions as clinically indicated.
• Provide family-centered training on home exercise programs, positioning, and daily care to optimize carryover outside the hospital.
• Track functional outcomes using validated paediatric assessment tools and adjust rehabilitation plans based on measurable progress.
• Supervise junior medical staff and rehabilitation trainees rotating through the service.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Specialty qualification in Paediatrics or Rehabilitation Medicine from a Tier 1 country recognized by UAE licensing authority (e.g., CCT, CCST, American Board, FRACP, RCPSC, DES, Fachärztliche Anerkennung/Urkunde).
• Formal subspecialty training in Paediatric Rehabilitation (fellowship or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years post-specialty experience in a hospital setting within Western Europe, North America, or Australasia.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing paediatric neurorehabilitation cases, including traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.
• Proficiency in spasticity management techniques (botulinum toxin, intrathecal baclofen).
• Valid consultant-level license or eligibility for UAE licensure from a Tier 1 country.
• Fluency in English required; Arabic language skills preferred.
