Job Description

NMC Healthcare presently has a job opening for suitably qualified and experienced candidate for position of a  OT Coordinator at NMC Royal Hospital, Sharjah, AE. This is an Intermediate level full time job. And salary can range between 6000-12000 AED/month.

Responsibilities of OT Coordinator

  • The OT Coordinator collaborates with the health care team to support patient activity.
  • Treats patient and/or customer service as a top priority.
  • Develops supportive relationships with patient/significant others, maintaining a professional role.
  • Answers the phone promptly and assists the caller in a courteous manner.
  • Relays complete and accurate messages promptly.
  • Exercises independent judgment in providing information in compliance with es-tablished institutional policies.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
  • Coordinates patient’s hospital arrival time.
  • Communicates appropriate hospital arrival time to patient/family verbally and to appropriate department via surgical list.
  • Provides patient instruction by utilizing communication techniques and teaching strategies appropriate to the age and abilities of the patient.
  • Anticipates patient/family’s informational needs.
  • Provides patient information with respect for patient’s privacy, uniqueness, per-sonal preference and cultural/religious beliefs.
  • Effectively manages anger, emotion and frustration.
  • Obtains pertinent patient and surgical information to facilitate care delivery based on individual patient needs (MRN, procedure’s name, time, length, materi-al).
  • Organizes surgical list in collaboration with OT Nurse/Anaesthetist Head to ensure availability of equipment, staff and instrumentation.
  • Assesses and coordinates with the appropriate department approvals and confirma-tions.
  • Follows appropriate format accurately.
  • Enters data for pre-scheduled cases for next day surgery on the Hospital Infor-mation System.
  • Identifies surgeon absences from Surgeon’s schedule and enters information into the register and computer.
  • Prints initial surgical list.

What you will do more

  • Proofs the surgical list with strong attention to detail with Nurse manager/ Anaes-thetist Head.
  • The booking clerk considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in the surgical listing process.
  • Completes assignments in a timely manner.
  • Uses systems available for scheduling procedures.
  • Maintains flexibility, sensitivity and good judgment during the listing process.
  • Suggests changes for efficiency and provides solutions for problems.
  • Maintains an organized system for documents, both electronically and manually.
  • Copies, assembles and distributes surgical lists, as directed.
  • Assists in routing and distributing incoming mail to appropriate areas.
  • Quality:
  • Complies with all policies and procedures relevant to the area.
  • Reports promptly any complaints, or incidents relating to the OT unit, ensuring that a prompt and appropriate response is made in accordance with best practice and hospital procedures.
  • Provides evidence of annual competence, for example, confidentiality, safety and emergency plans.
  • Responsible to update self and keep informed of current developments in Department of Surgical Services practice.
  • Attends educational programs and in services.
  • Contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues and others by sharing knowledge and skills with staff members in formal/informal teaching/practice settings.
  • Participates in he/his self-performance appraisal on a regular basis, identifying areas of strength and areas for professional/practice development.
  • Demonstrates assignment flexibility according to the department’s needs as may be delegated or assigned by senior staff.

Requirements for Role of OT Coordinator

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in an operating theatre environment.
