Every dictated medical report from a physician becomes a clear, accurate, and timely document in your hands. At Royal Women’s Hospital in Abu Dhabi, you will listen to voice recordings from doctors and convert them into written patient records, discharge summaries, operative reports, and clinic notes. Your attention to detail and medical terminology knowledge will ensure that every diagnosis and treatment plan is correctly transcribed, supporting patient safety and regulatory compliance in a specialist women’s healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe medical dictations from physicians, including histories and physicals, operative reports, discharge summaries, and clinic notes, with high accuracy (≥98%).
• Review and edit transcribed reports for grammar, punctuation, clarity, and correct medical terminology (e.g., diagnoses, procedures, medications).
• Identify inconsistencies or missing information in dictations and flag them for clinician clarification before finalisation.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in strict compliance with DHA, DOH, and HIPAA standards, as well as hospital policies.
• Meet daily productivity targets and turnaround times (e.g., 24–48 hours for routine reports, 2–4 hours for urgent documents).
• Use speech recognition software (e.g., Dragon Medical) and electronic health record (EHR) systems to transcribe and upload documents efficiently.
• Collaborate with clinicians and administrative staff to resolve transcription queries and ensure complete, audit‑ready records.
• Return transcribed reports to the requesting physician or department in the correct electronic folder, and maintain a log of completed work.
• Stay updated on medical terminology, obstetric/gynaecological procedures, and hospital documentation standards through ongoing education.

Requirements & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognised Medical Transcription training programme is essential.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Transcriptionist in a hospital or clinical setting, preferably in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, and common procedures, especially in obstetrics, gynaecology, and neonatology.
• Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute with high accuracy (98% or better).
• Proficiency with transcription software (e.g., Winscribe, Olympus) and EHR systems (e.g., Cerner, EPIC).
• Excellent listening, grammar, and proofreading skills in English; knowledge of Arabic medical terms is a plus.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and meet strict deadlines, with a high degree of attention to detail.
• Familiarity with DHA/DOH documentation regulations and hospital privacy policies.
