NMC Healthcare is looking to hire a candidate for the job role of a Medical Director in Royal Womens Hospital, Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is a Senior level full time role. For this position salary ranges from 35000-75000 AED, which may be slightly negotiable during the interview process.
Responsibilities of Medical Director
- Demonstrates ability to see the big picture in terms of the strategic operational plan and the ability to monitor and direct processes to fulfill such plans.
- Understands financial statements and ensures financial objectives.
- Ensures that there is compliance with the JCI requirements.
- Supervises and directs Head of all Departments. Evaluates incumbents and provides annual and ongoing feedback as appropriate.
- Directs and monitors the delivery of health care in Departments.
- Approves vacation schedules for Heads of Departments. Approves acting assignments for vacation relief.
- Supports active Continuing Medical Education programs within the hospital.
- Works closely with other Department Directors in developing policies and procedures to promote quality health care.
- As the Chairman of the Hospital Management Executive committee, convenes the committee to execute its responsibilities in managing the hospital.
- Assesses candidates for recruitment to the Hospital and solicits input regarding
- Candidates from Heads of Departments as needed. Conducts interviews and recommends candidates for employment.
- Liaises with the Senior Administrator to manage non-clinical areas.
- Communicates effectively with Heads of Departments, staff, other Department Directors and with management.
- Exercise effective interpersonal skills in dealing with Heads of Departments and staff, with associates and with Management.
- Evidences leadership skills in developing in others the willingness and desire to work toward common objectives.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of confidential nature.

- Recommends space, medical technology, equipment, staffing, and other resources needed by the departments or service and have a process in place to respond to shortages
- Recommends criteria for selecting the department’s or service’s professional staff and choose or recommend individuals who meet those criteria
- Reviews the staffing plan of the department quarterly to ensure the staffing levels related to the workload do not compromise quality & patient safety.
- Provides orientation and training for all staff of the duties and responsibilities for the department or service to which they are assigned
- Identifies, in writing, the services to be provided by the department, and integrates or coordinates those services with the services of other departments
- Improves quality and patient safety by participating in hospital wide improvement priorities and in monitoring and improving patient care specific to the department/service
- Engages their staff in improvement activities that reflect the hospital wide priorities and address the clinical or nonclinical activities specific to their department or service
- Selects and implements clinical practice guidelines, and related clinical pathways, and/or clinical protocols, to guide clinical care if applicable.
- Shares accountability for the review, selection, and monitoring of clinical and nonclinical contracts if required
- Promotes a culture of safety in the department /& across the hospital
- Lead the development of appropriate OSH management system through the integration of OSH into the entities management structure, processes and culture and the regular monitoring and review of OSH performance.
Requirements for Role of Medical Director
- A Post-graduate from an approved Medical School.
- In possession of a license to practice medicine in the UAE.
- Completion of an approved residency program consistent with established standards with specialty certification in the country of training.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in the Practice of Clinical Medicine and preferably about 1 year as Medical Director.
Skills And Knowledge Desired
- Should have a broad knowledge of clinical medicine, public health principles and medical management. Should have a thorough knowledge of policies and procedures of the Company. Must have the skills and abilities to effectively accomplish the Principal Duties described herein.
- Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic language advantageous/desirable but not essential.
- Ability to review procedures and implement new models of service delivery to satisfy client and organizational requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes and ability to consult with staff regarding continuous improvement.
