An exciting opportunity has been announced at Tabreed for the role of Manager Business Development Strategic Planning in Abu Dhabi. The role holder will assist to achieve growth in business development at Tabreed, working closely with the VP Business Development (BD), BD team and the Chief Development Officer (CDO) in managing and reviewing planning, business, technical, financial and legal aspects of projects within the BU. Duties of Manager Business Development Strategic Planning

Origination

  • Generates leads and contacts to initiate discussions on potential opportunities.
  • Sources leads that can originate from networking and contacts of the Executive Management, or from other information sources at Tabreed.
  • Sources leads through conducting desktop research, collecting on the ground market data, participation in industry events, competitor interactions, personal connections, and market sizing research.
  • Makes direct contact cold calling, utilizes personal contacts, and BD previous M&A  Greenfield clients list to identify new potential opportunities.
  • Explores possible new avenues such as data centers, potential new markets, Industrial such as pharmaceuticals, vertical farming, etc.
  • Coordination with Strategy and Project Management (SPMO) team and sizes the addressable market for potential growth.
  • Conducts market research, competitive landscaping, market analyses from political, economic, social, and technological aspects.

Governance

  • Formulates governance framework in Business Development process at Tabreed.
  • Assists and deploys rigorous frameworks for disciplined capital allocation, in accordance with purpose, strategic ambition, ESG principles and regulatory frameworks.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial models and their assumptions of potential opportunities highlighting key risks to valuation.
  • Assists in the preparation and review of standard templates across the business development origination, development and execution processes.
  • Acts as gatekeeper for all new BD projects submitted to Investment Committee for review and endorsement.
  • Assisting preparation and submission of Annual and 5-year Business Plan working in close coordination with the Project Managers in BD team, VP BD, and the CDO.
  • Coordinates and assists in the structural setup for the identified opportunities in new markets including compliance, tax structuring, etc.
  • Conceptualizes and coordinates strategic workshops to increase District Cooling awareness amongst Master planning consultants, Infrastructure consultants, Development teams of leading Master Developers, and Urban Planning departments at various Municipal organizations, in close liaison with Projects and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) departments in Tabreed.

Ad hoc Business Development Projects

  • Leads commercial negotiations with potential clients.
  • Works with Projects and Engineering departments to develop technical solutions for new projects.
  • Builds and reviews financial models for new projects, ensuring that Tabreed’s minimum investment criteria are met for all projects.
  • Reviews legal documentation on all new projects (in liaison with Tabreed Legal Dept.), ensures compliance with bylaws and regulatory environment.
  • Produces analyses of risks associated with new projects.
  • Assists in presentation of new projects in Tabreed’s Investment Committees or other relevant committees as required.
  • Provides analytical support on post-project implementation reviews.

Requirements for Role of Manager Business Development Startegic Planning

  • Bachelor’s Degree in financial management, economics or a related discipline.
  • Master in Business Administration (MBA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is highly a plus.
  • 8-10 years of overall experience in either leading management consultancy, investment banking or corporate finance or District Cooling/ Energy/ Utilities/ Infrastructure sectors.
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in District Cooling/ Energy/ Utilities/ Infrastructure sector/other similar large capital investment sectors.
  •  Financial modelling experience.
  •  Experience of closing Project Finance and acquisition financing preferred.
