Lead Construction Engineer Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Full-time

You will lead the civil, structural, and mechanical construction execution of a large‑scale RLNG (Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas) project in Abu Dhabi, overseeing contractors, safety, quality, and schedule adherence from ground breaking to mechanical completion. Every concrete pour, pipe weld, and equipment setting you supervise will bring the facility one step closer to delivering cleaner energy to the UAE’s grid. This is a site‑based leadership role for an engineer who turns complex engineering drawings into physical reality.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the construction team on site, coordinating all civil, structural, piping, mechanical, and electrical activities for the RLNG project.
• Review and approve contractor method statements, risk assessments, and lift plans, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards (ASME, API, BS).
• Monitor daily construction progress against the baseline schedule, identify potential delays, and initiate corrective actions to keep the project on track.
• Implement rigorous quality control procedures, including inspection of foundations, steel erection, piping alignment, and pressure testing.
• Enforce strict HSE standards on site, conducting toolbox talks, safety walkdowns, and incident investigations to maintain a zero‑LTI record.
• Liaise between engineering, procurement, and construction teams to resolve technical queries and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Manage subcontractors and site supervisors, allocating workforce and equipment resources effectively to optimise productivity.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, highlighting achievements, issues, and forecast completions for senior management and client representatives.
• Coordinate with quality assurance (QA/QC) for weld inspections, NDT, concrete cube tests, and other compliance checks.
• Oversee pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities, ensuring systems are handed over to operations safely and on time.

Requirements And Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in oil and gas construction projects, with at least 5 years in a senior supervisory or lead role.
• Demonstrated experience in LNG, RLNG, gas processing, or similar large‑scale industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, heavy lifting, modular assembly, and cryogenic piping systems.
• Professional certification such as PMP, CMAA, or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Excellent knowledge of international codes (ASME B31.3, API 620, ACI 318) and HSE regulations (ADNOC, NEBOSH).
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and structural steel layouts.
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Willingness to work on site (rotational shifts) in Abu Dhabi and travel to vendor workshops as needed.
