Key Responsibilities for Head of English at Regent International School Dubai

• Lead, manage, and develop the English department to ensure outstanding teaching and learning outcomes
• Design, implement, and review the English curriculum from Key Stage 3 through to A-Level
• Line manage, mentor, and conduct performance reviews for English department staff
• Analyse assessment data to identify trends and implement targeted improvement strategies
• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Language and Literature examinations
• Collaborate with senior leadership on school-wide literacy initiatives and strategies
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and timetabling effectively
• Lead by example through teaching demonstration lessons and coaching colleagues
• Coordinate and promote a rich extra-curricular programme including reading clubs and competitions
• Embed Positive Education principles into all aspects of department leadership and classroom practice

Requirements and Qualifications

• Recognised teaching qualification with a specialism in English Language or Literature
• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, with proven success in a middle or senior leadership role
• Strong knowledge of British curriculum English requirements from KS3 to A-Level
• Demonstrated ability to improve outcomes through data-driven curriculum development
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience mentoring and developing staff
