General Practitioner OBG Royal Womens Hospital Abu Dhabi

NMC Healthcare is currently looking to hire a candidate for the job role of a General Practitioner in OBG in Royal Womens Hospital, Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is an Intermediate level full time role. For this position salary ranges from 15000-35000 AED, which may be slightly negotiable during the interview process.

Responsibilities of General Practitioner

  • Provides antenatal intrapartum and post-natal care to obstetrical patients in the hospital and on an out-patient basis, as delegated by the Specialist/Consultant.
  • Responsible for assessment and reassessment of patients.
  • Assists obstetrical deliveries as delegated by the Specialists or Consultants.
  • Provides gynecology care to inpatients and outpatients as delegated by the Specialists or Consultants.
  • Performs surgical procedures of the female reproductive system on elective and on emergency bases using methods and techniques compatible with her level of competence and skill, as delegated by the Specialist / Consultant.
  • Refers problematic and seriously ill patients to the Specialist and/or Consultant Obstetrician Gynecologist, for review and advice regarding management.
  • Assists other obstetricians/gynecologists in major operative procedures when required to do so.
  • Ensures optimal documentation and medical handover for patients seen through the department.
  • Such other duties are reasonably requested
  • Assess risk, report incidents and to participate in Risk Management processes.
  • Review with senior staff, adverse events, problem incident and complaints and explore all opportunities to improve the quality of care and provide recommendations in regard to risk management
  • Provide after hours, on call and hospital services as per the roster if applicable.
  • Administrative activities: Attends committee meetings when so assigned by the Head of department.
  • Monitors clinical and other established indicators to ensure ongoing quality assurance.
  • Reviews journals, texts or periodicals in order to update latest techniques, procedures, drugs and therapy.
  • Involved in development of International level guidelines to standardize and improve quality of service provided.
  • Follows standard policies and procedures as required by HAAD, JCI, ISO, OSHMS and other regulatory bodies.

  • Participates in scheduled in-service training programs, CMEs, divisional teaching activities, the regular physicians’ conference or other committees as requested.
  • Participate in improvement initiates within the department
  • Handle complaints in an amicable manner when necessary
  • Foster interdepartmental liaison in order to ensure maintenance of established level of Service Agreements.
  • Aware of hospital fire policy and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in a quality assurance program for the obstetrics and gynecology services and help develop and monitor indicators
  • Assist the senior staff in developing best practice guidelines protocols
  • Documents all care provided and education/information given to patients within their medical health record, as per professional and practice standards/protocols.

Requirements for Role of General Practitioner

  • Bachelor Degree from an approved medical school plus one year of internship.
  • Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of practice as a General Practitioner. Must possess at least 2 year experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Must have General Practitioner license to practice by HAAD.

Skills And Knowledge Desired

  • Required to provide onsite obstetrical and gynecological coverage on rotational basis during evening, night, holidays, weekends and contractual leave periods without additional compensation of such coverage.
  • Ability to review procedures and implement new models of service delivery to satisfy client and organizational requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes and ability to consult with staff regarding continuous improvement.
  • Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic language advantageous/desirable but not essential.
  • Possess a “can do” and flexible approach.
  • Ability to demonstrate highly developed communication and organizational skills at all levels
  • Ability to provide compassionate care that is respectful to patients’ preferences.
  • Knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and in a team within a complex clinical setting.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and practice of confidentiality policy.
  • Ability to demonstrate self-directed thinking, continued proficiency and initiative in problem solving when providing patient care in the clinical setting.
