About the Role

The Game Lab Specialist at American University in Dubai will be responsible for managing and maintaining the game design and development laboratories within the MBRSC department. Furthermore, this role involves supporting faculty and students in utilizing game engines, software tools, and hardware equipment essential for coursework and research projects. Moreover, the specialist will ensure that all lab resources are up-to-date, functional, and aligned with the curriculum requirements of the BS in Game Design and Development program.

Key Responsibilities for Game Lab Specialist at American University in Dubai Dubai

• Manage and maintain all game design and development lab equipment, software, and hardware systems
• Support faculty members in preparing lab sessions and technical demonstrations for coursework
• Coordinate the installation, updating, and troubleshooting of game engines such as Unity and Unreal Engine
• Monitor lab usage and ensure compliance with university health and safety regulations
• Develop and maintain documentation for lab procedures, equipment usage, and troubleshooting guides
• Assist students with technical issues related to game development projects and assignments
• Contribute to the procurement process for new lab equipment and software licenses
• Promote best practices in lab management and support interdisciplinary collaboration across departments
• Lead orientation sessions for new students on lab facilities, tools, and safety protocols

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in a game development or lab technician role
• Proficiency in game engines such as Unity and Unreal Engine
• Strong knowledge of 3D modeling, animation tools, and game development pipelines
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and technical staff
