Full Professor in Public Health and Epidemiology Abu Dhabi – United Arab Emirates Full-time

At the United Arab Emirates University’s Institute of Public Health, you will lead high‑impact research that addresses the region’s most pressing health challenges, from infectious and chronic disease epidemiology to maternal and child health and injury prevention. As a Full Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology, you will shape national health policy, secure competitive research funding, and mentor the next generation of public health leaders through MPH and PhD programmes. Your work will directly support the UAE’s vision for a healthier, evidence‑driven society.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and sustain a high‑quality, internationally visible research programme in public health and epidemiology, including infectious or chronic disease epidemiology, health promotion, surveillance, implementation research, environmental/occupational health, or related priority areas.
• Secure and lead externally funded research projects as Principal Investigator, publishing findings in reputable peer‑reviewed journals.
• Supervise and mentor MPH and PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and junior faculty, building research capacity within the Institute.
• Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in public health and epidemiology, supporting curriculum development and enhancement.
• Foster interdisciplinary and inter‑institutional collaboration within UAEU and with external partners, including health authorities, government agencies, and international organisations.
• Provide academic and scientific leadership to advance the Institute’s research profile, graduate education, and external engagement.
• Serve on academic committees and contribute to institutional service, consistent with UAEU’s mission and national priorities.
• Build partnerships with ministries, healthcare organisations, and international agencies to translate research into public health policy and practice.

Requirements And Qualifications

• PhD, DrPH, ScD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Population Health, Preventive Medicine, Biostatistics, or a closely related field from an accredited, internationally recognised institution.
• A distinguished and sustained record of scholarly achievement in public health and epidemiology, with an internationally recognised research profile.
• Substantial record of publication in high‑quality, peer‑reviewed journals and a strong history of successful competitive research funding, preferably as Principal Investigator.
• Extensive experience in postgraduate supervision (master’s and doctoral students), as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
• Evidence of academic leadership, institutional service, and contribution to advancing the discipline.
• Preferred: Proven record of leading major research programmes or multi‑institutional collaborations, demonstrated impact on public health policy, experience building partnerships with ministries and health authorities, and a medical degree in addition to the doctoral qualification.
• Alignment with public health priorities in the UAE and the Gulf region is highly desirable.
