This role delivers high-quality Design & Technology lessons following the UK National Curriculum within a faith-based environment that promotes traditional moral values alongside academic excellence. You will plan curricula covering a broad range of DT subjects, use data to monitor and enhance student progress, and ensure a healthy culture of learning through differentiation and analysis. The position operates at ISCS, part of Beam’s network of creative science schools, where your teaching directly inspires students to develop critical thinking, creativity, and practical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons in line with the UK National Curriculum, ensuring coverage of key stage requirements for KS3 and KS4.
• Use data disaggregation and analysis to monitor student progress, then differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs and secure outstanding results.
• Develop curricula that cover a broad range of DT subjects including resistant materials, product design, graphics, and emerging technologies.
• Maintain up-to-date subject-specific knowledge and understanding according to curriculum requirements and industry developments.
• Observe, assess, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback and preparing students for GCSE or IGCSE examinations.
• Create a safe, well-resourced workshop environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations for practical DT activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the creative and technical departments to integrate DT with other subject areas and school-wide initiatives.
• Promote a love of learning and design thinking, encouraging students to innovate, problem-solve, and produce high-quality practical outcomes.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Technology, or a related subject.
• UK Teaching Qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience or teaching practice in Design & Technology following the UK National Curriculum.
• Knowledge of data disaggregation, analysis, and differentiation strategies for students of varying abilities.
• Recent knowledge and understanding of safeguarding (aligned with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025).
• Proven track record of successful teaching and securing outstanding results through high-quality teaching and learning.
• Ability to use data effectively to monitor and enhance student progress.
• Clean police check (DBS or equivalent) as per Beam’s safer recruitment policy.
