Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon – Abu Dhabi Full-time

This role corrects congenital and acquired musculoskeletal deformities in children—from developmental dysplasia of the hip and clubfoot to scoliosis and limb length discrepancies—within a state-of-the-art specialty hospital co-managed with a major US medical institution. You will perform growth-friendly surgical techniques, guided growth procedures, and complex osteotomies tailored to a child’s remaining growth potential. The position operates within a US-collaborative orthopaedic institute, where your surgical decisions directly impact mobility, function, and long-term joint health for paediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage paediatric orthopaedic conditions including developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE), and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
• Perform surgical correction of clubfoot using Ponseti method with tenotomy, and manage recurrent or atypical cases with tibialis anterior transfer.
• Conduct guided growth procedures (hemiepiphysiodesis) for angular deformities of the knee and ankle in growing children.
• Perform limb lengthening and deformity correction using external fixators or intramedullary magnetic lengthening nails.
• Manage paediatric fractures including supracondylar humerus fractures, femoral shaft fractures, and physeal injuries with age-appropriate fixation techniques.
• Treat neuromuscular scoliosis in children with cerebral palsy or spinal muscular atrophy using growing rods or vertebral body tethering.
• Collaborate with paediatric neurosurgeons, physiatrists, and physical therapists for post-operative rehabilitation and bracing.
• Supervise orthopaedic residents and fellows in paediatric-specific surgical techniques and peri-operative care.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Specialty qualification in Orthopaedics from a Tier 1 country recognized by UAE licensing authority (e.g., CCT, CCST, American Board, FRACP, RCPSC, DES, Fachärztliche Anerkennung/Urkunde).
• Formal subspecialty training in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery (fellowship or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years post-specialty experience in a hospital setting within Western Europe, North America, or Australasia.
• Demonstrated case log of paediatric orthopaedic procedures including hip dysplasia surgery, fracture fixation, and deformity correction.
• Experience with growth-friendly spinal implants or limb lengthening systems preferred.
• Valid consultant-level license or eligibility for UAE licensure from a Tier 1 country.
• Fluency in English required; Arabic language skills preferred.
