Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist – Electrophysiology Abu Dhabi Full-time

This role diagnoses and treats complex cardiac arrhythmias in children—from fetal tachycardia to post-surgical conduction disorders—within a state-of-the-art specialty hospital co-managed with a major US medical institution. You will perform electrophysiology studies, map aberrant pathways, and deliver catheter-based ablation or device implantation tailored to paediatric anatomy. The position operates within a US-collaborative cardiac centre, where your electrophysiology decisions directly prevent sudden cardiac events and improve long-term outcomes for young patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform invasive electrophysiology studies (EPS) to identify arrhythmia substrates in children with congenital heart disease or structurally normal hearts.
• Conduct radiofrequency or cryoablation procedures for supraventricular tachycardia, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia, and accessory pathways.
• Implant and manage pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and loop recorders in paediatric and young adult patients.
• Interpret Holter monitors, event recorders, and remote telemetry data to guide antiarrhythmic medication or device programming.
• Manage acute arrhythmias in the cardiac ICU, including post-operative junctional ectopic tachycardia and complete heart block.
• Collaborate with fetal cardiology specialists to plan delivery and immediate postnatal electrophysiology intervention for hydropic fetuses with tachyarrhythmias.
• Lead multidisciplinary case discussions with cardiac surgeons, intensivists, and anaesthesiologists for hybrid ablation or device extraction procedures.
• Supervise and train paediatric cardiology fellows and junior medical staff in electrophysiology techniques and peri-procedural care.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Specialty qualification in Paediatrics or Cardiology from a Tier 1 country recognized by UAE licensing authority (e.g., CCT, CCST, American Board, FRACP, RCPSC, DES, Fachärztliche Anerkennung/Urkunde).
• Formal subspecialty training in Paediatric Cardiology followed by dedicated fellowship or advanced training in Electrophysiology.
• Minimum 2 years post-specialty experience in a hospital setting within Western Europe, North America, or Australasia.
• Proven case log of paediatric EP studies and catheter ablations, including procedures in patients with congenital heart disease.
• Experience with 3D mapping systems (e.g., CARTO, EnSite) and radiation reduction strategies for paediatric patients.
• Valid consultant-level license or eligibility for UAE licensure from a Tier 1 country.
• Fluency in English required; Arabic language skills preferred.
