Consultant Maternal & Fetal Medicine – Al Ain Full-time

This role manages high-risk pregnancies and performs advanced fetal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures—from chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis to intrauterine transfusions and laser ablation for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome—within a state-of-the-art specialty hospital in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. You will interpret detailed fetal anomaly scans, fetal echocardiograms, and Doppler studies to guide antenatal management and delivery timing. The position operates within a leading hospital group, where your decisions directly reduce perinatal morbidity and improve outcomes for both mother and fetus.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed fetal anomaly scans at 11-14 and 20-22 weeks, identifying structural, chromosomal, and genetic abnormalities.
• Perform invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures including chorionic villus sampling (CVS), amniocentesis, and fetal blood sampling.
• Manage complex maternal medical conditions in pregnancy such as pre-existing diabetes, hypertension, cardiac disease, and autoimmune disorders.
• Diagnose and treat fetal conditions including growth restriction, hydrops, anaemia, arrhythmias, and twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS).
• Perform intrauterine interventions including fetal blood transfusion, thoracentesis, vesicocentesis, and laser photocoagulation for TTTS.
• Provide preconception counselling for women with recurrent pregnancy loss, advanced maternal age, or known genetic disorders.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with neonatology, paediatric surgery, genetics, and maternal-fetal medicine nursing teams.
• Develop delivery plans including timing, mode, and location (maternal-fetal medicine unit vs. operating theatre) based on fetal and maternal risk stratification.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Specialty qualification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from a Tier 1 country recognized by UAE licensing authority (e.g., CCT, CCST, American Board, FRACP, RCPSC, DES, Fachärztliche Anerkennung/Urkunde).
• Formal subspecialty training in Fetal Medicine (maternal-fetal medicine fellowship or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years post-specialty experience in a hospital setting within Western Europe, North America, or Australasia.
• Demonstrated competence in advanced fetal ultrasound including Doppler, fetal echocardiography, and 3D/4D imaging.
• Proven case log of invasive fetal procedures (CVS, amniocentesis, fetal blood sampling) and intrauterine interventions.
• Valid consultant-level license or eligibility for UAE licensure from a Tier 1 country.
• Fluency in English required; Arabic language skills preferred.
