About the Role

The Basketball Coach at Dubai College works in close collaboration with the Director of Sport and the wider PE team, delivering high-quality training, competitive fixtures, and enrichment experiences for students. Furthermore, this role forms an integral part of the College’s Character Development Activities (CDA) programme, using basketball as a powerful vehicle for building confidence, teamwork, and resilience. The coach supports students across a broad range of abilities, ensuring every session is purposeful and engaging. Moreover, the postholder plays a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive sporting culture across the school community.

Key Responsibilities for Basketball Coach at Dubai College Dubai

• Lead structured basketball training sessions for students across all year groups
• Plan and manage competitive fixtures and tournaments against other schools
• Monitor individual and team progress, providing targeted technical and tactical feedback
• Develop player pathways and performance programmes to maximise student potential
• Promote values of respect, sportsmanship, and resilience through every session
• Support the delivery of the College’s Character Development Activities (CDA) programme
• Contribute to the organisation and running of sports enrichment events and activities
• Collaborate with the wider PE and coaching team on cross-sport programmes
• Manage equipment, courts, and health and safety standards during all sessions
• Communicate player progress clearly and regularly to parents and school leadership

Requirements

• Relevant basketball coaching qualification (FIBA Level 1 or equivalent)
• Demonstrable experience coaching basketball at school, club, or academy level
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills
• Ability to work effectively with students of diverse abilities and backgrounds
• First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one prior to starting
• DBS check or equivalent international police clearance required
