About the Role
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology at American University in Dubai will teach undergraduate courses in biology and related life sciences within the School of Arts and Sciences. Furthermore, the successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda and contribute to the growth of the biology program through curriculum development and student mentorship. Moreover, the professor will collaborate with colleagues across departments to support interdisciplinary initiatives and program accreditation.
Key Responsibilities for Assistant Associate Professor of Biology at American University in Dubai Dubai
- Deliver undergraduate courses in biology including general biology, molecular biology, genetics, and related life sciences
- Develop and update course curricula, laboratory experiments, and assessment materials
- Maintain an active research agenda and publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Supervise student research projects and mentor undergraduate students in the biology program
- Coordinate and manage laboratory sessions, equipment, and biological specimens
- Contribute to program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement processes
- Participate in department meetings, committees, and academic governance activities
- Promote community engagement and public outreach in biological sciences
- Support interdisciplinary collaboration with engineering, health sciences, and environmental programs
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biology, Biological Sciences, or a closely related field from a Western accredited institution
- Demonstrated experience teaching biology courses at the university level
- Active research portfolio with publications in peer-reviewed journals commensurate with rank
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills
- Experience teaching diverse student populations in a multicultural setting
- Strong commitment to teaching excellence and student success
