Agricultural Technology research in the UAE operates under conditions that most precision agriculture scientists never encounter — extreme heat, water scarcity, saline soils, and a national food security agenda that gives applied research immediate policy relevance. This Assistant or Associate Professor position at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine asks you to build a funded research program that tackles those conditions directly, using UAV-based crop monitoring, IoT-enabled irrigation, agricultural robotics, AI-driven decision systems, and smart greenhouse technologies. The role sits at the intersection of engineering and agronomy, making it genuinely interdisciplinary in both research scope and teaching responsibility. Key Responsibilities for Assistant / Associate Professor in Agricultural Technology Al Ain

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural technology, precision agriculture, smart farming systems, and related disciplines. Develop new course content that reflects current industry tools and arid-environment applications.
• Supervise MSc and PhD students from research design through to thesis defense and publication. Build a graduate research group around your funded program over time.
• Establish and lead an internationally recognized, externally funded research program. Focus on one or more priority areas including precision irrigation, UAV crop monitoring, agricultural automation, AI/ML applications, or digital agriculture platforms.
• Secure competitive external research grants from national bodies such as ASPIRE and ADEK, as well as international funding agencies aligned with food security and climate-smart agriculture.
• Publish consistently in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals in agricultural technology, biosystems engineering, or precision agriculture.
• Collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and agri-tech firms on applied research projects relevant to UAE national agricultural innovation priorities.
• Contribute to departmental service, college committees, and outreach activities at university and community level.

Requirements & Qualifications

• PhD in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Technology, Precision Agriculture, Biosystems Engineering, Digital Agriculture, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated research productivity in one or more of the following: precision agriculture, smart farming, agricultural automation, remote sensing, AI applications in agriculture, or digital farm management systems.
• Expertise in one or more technical specializations: UAV-based multispectral or hyperspectral imaging, IoT-based irrigation systems, agricultural robotics, machine learning for crop modelling, GIS and spatial analysis, or digital twin technologies for agriculture.
• Evidence of effective university-level teaching, with a strong record of research and service required for Associate Professor rank.
• Record of successful research grant acquisition or active participation in funded international projects.
• Experience working in arid or semi-arid agricultural systems is a strong advantage.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
