About the Role

The Accounting Manager at American University in Dubai will oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and financial reporting. Furthermore, this position reports to the Director of Finance and plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the university’s financial records. Moreover, the role involves supervising accounting staff and coordinating with internal and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities for Accounting Manager at American University in Dubai Dubai

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger
• Coordinate and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
• Monitor budgets and ensure compliance with university financial policies and procedures
• Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard university assets
• Support the preparation of the university’s annual budget and financial forecasts
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff members
• Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with UAE labor regulations
• Contribute to process improvements and automation of financial workflows
• Promote best practices in financial management across all departments

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and UAE financial regulations
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Experience in the higher education sector is an advantage
