The Waiter/Waitress is responsible for providing excellent customer service to guests in a restaurant or hospitality setting. This includes taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience for all patrons. The ideal candidate will be friendly, attentive, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities of Waiter/Waitress
- Guest Service:
- Greet and welcome guests upon arrival.
- Present menus, answer questions about menu items, and make recommendations when requested.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, input orders into the POS system, and ensure timely delivery.
- Order Management:
- Relay orders to the kitchen and bar staff accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure food and beverages are served at the correct temperature and presentation standards.
- Handle special requests and dietary requirements with care and attention.
- Table Maintenance:
- Set up tables with appropriate tableware, condiments, and linens before service.
- Clear and clean tables promptly after guests have finished their meals.
- Refill beverages and attend to any additional needs of the guests throughout their dining experience.
- Billing and Payments:
- Prepare and present the bill to guests at the end of their meal.
- Process payments accurately using the POS system and handle cash, credit, and debit transactions.
- Provide change and receipts to guests and thank them for their visit.
- Customer Interaction:
- Engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner to ensure a positive dining experience.
- Address any complaints or issues promptly and escalate to the manager if necessary.
- Solicit feedback from guests to improve service quality.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service flow.
- Assist other team members during busy periods and provide support as needed.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Hygiene and Safety:
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
- Follow all food safety protocols and ensure proper handling of food and beverages.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to the manager promptly.
Requirements of Waiter/Waitress
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience of 1-2 years as a waiter or in a similar customer service role.
Skills and Knowledge Desired
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and making change.
- Proficiency in using POS systems and handling cash transactions.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Professional appearance and grooming standards.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and carry heavy trays.
